MMOB for public light buses
9 March 2001

Hong Kong, March 9, 2001¡KDevelopment of Multi-Media On Board ("MMOB") services has gone one big step forward, with the installation of MMOB on the entire fleet of public light buses operated by the Aberdeen Maxicab Service Company Limited ("AMS").

Speaking at a ceremony today marking the launch of the first public light bus equipped with MMOB, KMB Multi-media Business Advisor Eric Yeung announced that an agreement had been reached with AMS to install the MMOB system on over 200 public light buses currently run by AMS in Hong Kong beginning this month.

Mr Yeung said the agreement with AMS was a significant one because it was the first time for the MMOB network to be expanded to include public light buses.

"We promised to make bus journeys more enjoyable. Now that we have delivered this promise, we would like to make public light bus journeys as enjoyable as bus journeys.

"I believe that public light bus passengers will enjoy MMOB because of the variety of programmes the system provides," Mr Yeung said.

RoadShow Group Director Amanda Lui said the installation work would take place gradually.

"We will install MMOB on the entire fleet of public light buses run by AMS in phases, taking into account the operations of the respective public light buses," Miss Lui said.

Miss Lui added that the MMOB system on the public light buses included one 15-inch liquid crystal display monitor and a video compact disc player. This system transmits every day to passengers tailor-made programmes, which consist of information, entertainment, educational programmes, community service and advertisements.

AMS Chairman Wong Man-kit said he was happy to have reached the agreement because MMOB could really add value to his company's public light bus services.

"KMB is a desirable business partner because the programmes MMOB is now showing are what exactly we have been looking for in the past years.

"From now on our passengers can stay in a closer touch with the community and have an additional access to a variety of information and entertainment," Mr Wong said.
Mr Yeung added that MMOB was started in December last year as part of KMB's efforts to add value to passengers' bus journeys.

KMB will strive to improve its services to meet the ever-increasing needs and expectations of passengers and to stay ahead as the most-preferred mode of public transport.

At the moment a total of 700 buses have been equipped with MMOB and the number will reach 2,000 by the end of April.

AMS General Manager Chan Man-chun also attended today's ceremony.
